Databases

There are many databases and other digital material in the library computers that can’t usually be used from school or home.  Use e-mail or save this information to the memory sticks or diskettes.

Advanced users need them typically for school assignments etc. If you don’t use these databases yet, it doesn’t matter at all. At least you know they exist and where you can find this kind of special information.

Fennica database
Fennica is the Finnish National Bibliography. It contains the information of all the books, magazines, serials and maps published in Finland. It also includes publications published outside Finland but with a Finnish author or related to Finland. This applies to non-book material and computer records too. You can use Fennica free of charge on the Internet.

Arto
Arto is the Reference Database of Finnish Articles. It is an index of articles from approx. 700 Finnish journals. Arto contains mainly journal article references. You can use this database at the library computers.

NetMot
Digital dictionary. NetMot contains for example English, French, German and Spanish dictionaries. You can use them to translate something into Finnish or vice versa. NetMot is available in the library computers.
