How do I get a library card?

You need a library card to be able to borrow things from the library or to use library’s computers.

There is no age limits in getting a library card but if you are under 15 an adult decides whether you can have one or not.

To be able to get a library card you must fill in a registration form first. Your mother, father or some other adult in your family has to sign it. That way you both promise to take good care of all the things you borrow. You also promise to follow the library rules.

The first card doesn’t cost anything and you can use it in all HelMet-libraries.

This is our current library card.

Your card may look like this if you have got it before autumn 2004.

It’s a good thing to have your library card on you every time you come to the library. You never know what interesting things you might find.

The library card is your very own. Never lend it to your friends.

What if I lose my library card?

If your library card goes missing you should tell the library about it. You can ring or visit the library to let us know you have lost your card. If someone misuses your library card after that you are not responsible for those loans. You should tell about the missing library card to your parents as well.

A new library card costs two euros and you have to fill in the registration form all over again.
