Library is the meeting place and heart of the local community and a source of enriching experiences, knowledge and stories. We strive to meet the customers’ needs. If you’d like to visit a library that is never quiet or dull, we’re the place for you!

Humour and individual service

All services are literally within your reach. Individual customer service, well organised children’s section, a collection of over 25 000 items, computers for public use, a coffee vending machine, 80 different newspapers and magazines, continuous art exhibitions and sociable Haaga residents - all this makes North-Haaga a busy and extremely well-liked library. Customer service often comes with a bit of banter. The library is accessible from the ground level and you can even visit with your dog. During the summer months the library has a small terrace where you can read the paper while enjoying a cup of coffee. Approximately 12 000 patrons visit the library per month and the yearly circulation is about 170 000.

Events and Christmas elves

The library hosts a variety of events for different age groups: book clubs, discussions, theater, author visits and events for children. Music and theater performances aimed at children are very popular. Father Christmas never forgets to visit North-Haaga library and the children know it. The library’s Elf Path is visited by 1000 customers in December and Father Christmas has both delighted and frightened children for several consecutive years.

Twin sister at South-Haaga

North-Haaga library has a twin library in South-Haaga (Etelä-Haaga). Both libraries have the same library manager and collaborate closely. An elementary school of 300 pupils is located next to South-Haaga library. The library offers for instance Homework-Help, a poem group for babies and a book club for young adults. Once a week children can read to dogs and improve on their reading skills. Furry Ears are at the ready and so is the staff. Welcome!
